John takes us back to the very beginning of creation to reveal that the One we worship in the manger at Christmas is none other than God incarnate, the Second Person of the Trinity. We are encouraged to marvel at the Divine Word who is the Agent of Creation and Light of the world come to give life to men.
Here John's spotlight turns to the Messiah's forerunner, then the Messiah, and finally on us. The question we are left with is whether we will receive God's gift of eternal life in the Son by faith or will reject Him. The glorious news for all who do receive Christ is that they've been granted to become children of God and have been born of God into His family by the Divine right of Heaven's King.
