July 5, 2020- Pause & Reflect on the Cross & the Coming Judgment- Psalm 140
What do we do with the imprecatory psalms? Those passages where David prays God will rain down coals of fire on people and send them into fiery pits never to rise? We discover from Psalm 140 that when we find ourselves being targeted by the wicked, that we must pray for deliverance and justice while looking with one eye to the cross and the other on Christ's return.
June 28, 2020- Pause & Reflect on God's Plan for Multi-Ethnic Worship- Psalm 67
"I can't breathe" is the phrase that summarizes the current racial tension of our nation. With all the appropriate concern over racial injustice in our country, it is important for us to consider what God says about the issue. Join us as we consider God's plan for gathering a multi-ethnic people to worship Him.
June 21, 2020- Pause & Reflect to Pursue Holiness Before the King of Glory- Psalm 24
We wouldn't dare march into the Oval Office flippantly and yet we so often barge in making demands to the God of heaven. In Psalm 24, we learn the importance of coming humbly before the King of glory and receiving the righteousness only He can give. This Messianic psalm teaches us that the holiness we need to approach God is that which He alone can give to us when we come by faith in the King of glory, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Blessing of Dwelling in God’s Presence- 6/14/20- Psalm 84
Who does God consider truly blessed in this life?
1) Those who long to worship God with His pilgrim people (Ps. 84:1-4)
-their longing is to be near God
-their longing is to sing alongside God's people
2) Those who find new strength for the journey to Zion (Ps. 84:5-7)
-their strength derives from God
-their focus gives them joy
-their endurance is secure
3) Those who trust God is better than this world's passing pleasures (Ps. 84:8-12)
-their passion is time spent with God
-their service is humble and grateful
-their faith is in God's rich provision

Whenever he heard distressing news, Martin Luther would say, "Come, let us sing the 46th Psalm." He wrote the famous hymn "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" while reflecting on Psalm 46 just before he faced his harshest accusers and opponents. Today, we find ourselves facing worldwide anxiety and concern over COVID-19. Psalm 46 teaches us to behold our sovereign God and be still in His presence, refusing to cave to fear.
