His Name Shall Be Called...

Is peace possible in our world today? Yes, but only through the Prince of Peace. The true problem of our world isn't external war with one another, but internal war with God in our hearts. We are rebels at heart and until we are brought to peace with God, we will never be peacemakers in this world. 

Is Jesus worthy of our prayers, our worship, our obedience, and our trust? In a 2020 State of Theology Survey from Lifeway Research and Ligonier, it was discovered that 62% of Americans think Jesus is great, but still created by God. Who exactly is this baby in the manger? Creator or created? Join us as we consider the identity of Jesus.

Wonderful is a word we use when we reach for the highest expression of surprise and amazement to describe something. In Isaiah 9, the "son" who is "given" is given the title, "Wonderful Counselor." We are all drawn to stare in wonder at the fading lights of this world (sex, money, power, etc), but here we are called to behold the One who is truly wonderful. When we are captivated at the glory of Jesus Christ, we will then find true satisfaction and lasting joy. 

Parents choose the names of their child with intentionality, not by accident. Likewise in Scripture, God gives us several names or titles for His Son. His name shall be called...Immanuel...Wonderful Counselor...Mighty God...Everlasting Father...Prince of Peace...Son of the Most High God...Jesus. Each of these names represent something unique about the Person of God's only Son. The name Immanuel means, "God with us" and reminds us believers that we never encounter a problem on our own. God has truly come in Christ to prove He is with us through it all.
